1 Chronicles 8: Benjamin's families, and Saul's line
A free study, verse by verse. Text: World English Bible. Notes come from the Hebrew. How to read a study
What happens?
The list of Benjamin's sons and descendants goes on: Bela and his brothers, Ehud's sons carried captive to Manahath, Shaharaim in the field of Moab, and the sons of Elpaal who built Ono and Lod. It says that some of the heads of fathers' households lived in Jerusalem, and it names the family of Gibeon. It ends with Ner, Kish, Saul and Saul's sons, and the descendants of Jonathan and Azel, with Ulam's sons archers.
Who is speaking?
The narrator gives the list. No one speaks in this chapter, and no verse is in gold. God's own words are printed in gold, and those verses are marked God speaks

In plain English: Naaman, Ahijah and Gera, who carried them captive. He became the father of Uzza and Ahihud.
Good to know: The Hebrew says "he" took them into exile and "he" became the father of Uzza and Ahihud: one man each time. It does not say which of Naaman, Ahijah and Gera.

8Shaharaim became the father of children in the field of Moab, after he had sent them away. Hushim and Baara were his wives.
In plain English: Shaharaim became the father of children in the field of Moab, after he had sent them away (them: the children, or his wives Hushim and Baara). Hushim and Baara were his wives.
Good to know: The Hebrew has no word for "children": it says only that Shaharaim fathered, in the field of Moab. This Bible adds "children". "Them" can mean the children, or Hushim and Baara, since the verse goes straight on to name them as his wives. The verse does not say why he sent them away.
