What happens?
Yahweh tells Moses to ask the Israelites for an offering of gold, silver, bronze, linen, goats' hair, skins, wood, oil, spices and stones, and says they are to make him a sanctuary, so that he may dwell among them. He gives the plan for the ark of acacia wood overlaid with gold, the mercy seat with two cherubim, the table for the bread of the presence, and the gold lamp stand with seven lamps. He tells Moses to make everything by the pattern shown to him on the mountain.
Who is speaking?
The narrator speaks in verse 1 only. God's own words are in 39 of the 40 verses: Yahweh asks for an offering and gives the plan for the ark, the table and the lamp stand, in verses 2 to 40. His speech goes on into chapter 26. God's own words are printed in gold, and those verses are marked God speaks

The Hebrew words: "Dwell" is shakan, which the dictionary gives as "to reside or permanently stay (literally or figuratively)". "Tabernacle" in verse 9 is mishkan, which sounds like it. The dictionary gives mishkan as "a residence" and, specifically, the Tabernacle.
How it is translated: This Bible says "tabernacle" for mishkan in all 55 verses of Exodus that use it, and in 99 of the 129 verses of the whole Bible. "Sanctuary" in this verse is a different word, miqdash, which is in only 2 verses of Exodus: this one and .

How it is translated: This Bible says "ark" for aron in 168 of the 174 verses that use it. In the other 6 verses it says "chest" in 5 and "coffin" in 1: , where Joseph is put in one.

The Hebrew word: "Mercy seat" is kapporeth. The dictionary gives it as "a lid (used only of the cover of the sacred Ark)". It sounds like kaphar, the verb behind "make atonement" ().
How it is translated: This Bible says "mercy seat" in all 22 verses that use the word, 16 of them in Exodus.

That works out to 3,000 shekels to a talent: 603,550 half shekels is 301,775 shekels, and taking away the 1,775 leaves 300,000 for the 100 talents. This is worked out from those numbers.
