Leviticus 15: Discharges from the body
A free study, verse by verse. Text: World English Bible. Notes come from the Hebrew. How to read a study
What happens?
Yahweh tells Moses and Aaron the rules for discharges from the body of a man or a woman: a man's discharge, the flow of semen, a woman's monthly period, and bleeding that goes on outside her period. Each makes a person unclean for a time, and often what they lie or sit on and whoever touches it too, with washing and waiting to become clean again. When a man's discharge or a woman's bleeding outside her period stops, the person brings two birds as offerings on the eighth day.
Who is speaking?
Yahweh speaks to Moses and Aaron and tells them what to say to Israel. God's own words are in 30 of the 33 verses: verses 2 to 31. Verses 32 and 33 are closing lines that sum up the law, outside the quotation marks. God's own words are printed in gold, and those verses are marked God speaks
